Just another Sunday for most people!
But for seven Zanshin Karate Club members, this day will be one to remember!
Zanshin Black Belt Exam
Let me start by saying everybody showed tremendous effort and character, please check out the story i posted on my blog CLICK HERE. This short story has a lot of meaning for me and I believe it's how a good martial artist should conduct themselves.
Those testing were, John Gall, Peter Felstead, Trish Peck, James Felstead, Anton Pryor, Michael Stevenson and Alice Andrews (nidan).

We are proud of them all!
The black belt axam started at 13.30 hours, with a 2 mile run, everyone breezed the run, because they trained for the run.
The first part of the exam was held immediately after the run, Karate Kata, Seipai and Yamini Ryu Bo kata, Choun No Kon were demonstrated outside after the run.
Everybody then made their way to the dojo, 15.45 hours. Everyone was now warmed up, stretched and ready to go.
Kihon (basic moves) first.
White belt basics were first (single techniques), then basic combinations (green belt), followed by the brown belt combinations.
Kumite (kata) second.
Sanbon kumite (3 step sparring) first, followed by kihon ippon kumite (basic 1 step sparring), next was ju ippon kumite (semi free one step sparring). Fourth, one for one kumite, finaly finishing with shiai kumite (point fighting).
Kata (forms) third.
Kihon kata, heian shodan, heian nidan, heian sandan, heian yondan, heian godan, tekki shodan, bassai dai, jion, enpi, hangetsu, kanku dai. (Alice performed black belt katas for nidan)
Finally everyone demonstarted their favourite kata.
