Nijushiho translates as 24 moves, or 24 techniques. Nijushiho is made up of 4 Japanese kanji - ni (2), ju (10), shi (4) and ho (moves or techniques). It is said by some that Master Masatoshi Nakayama studied Nieseshi (Nijushiho), with Master Kenwa Mabuni (founder of Shito Ryu). Shotokan Founder, master Gichin Funakoshi changed the name Niseishi to Nijushiho, for the Japanese. Niseshi and Nijushiho both translate to 24 moves or techniques. A very popular black belt kata, that is another favoured competition kata.
